Apology: Duplicate activation emails
On Aug 19, we launched our trigger email system that sends out emails when certain events are triggered, i.e. you register for a new account or reset your password – you will get an email of some kind.
The system had to be sophisticated enough to support multiple instances, so that it can handle the number of signups that we get without slowing down email delivery. Our primary goal was that emails should take no longer than 5mins to get to your inbox or should I say leaves our system as your email provider might slow things down.
Anyway, it runs multiple instances and ensures that the email queue is empty, the problem occurred when one of those instances got out of sync and sent out multiple emails assuming that they weren’t sent, this bug affected ~100 customers before we noticed the problem and halted the system – we are working hard at fixing it right now and it will return once we are satisfied that it works as intended.
